Instinctively crown creates a comfortable easy feeling.
BEFORE & AFTER CROWN MOLDING
An oversized crown worked well with these period cabinets. Updating the kitchen on a budget simply adding crown is a great trick.
Even for the utility room a small crown works.

VAULTED AND CATHEDRAL CROWN

We can case your arched windows. We use casings that have matching "flex" molding.
With drywall return windows we often put casing an apron at the bottom and extended stool (sill) to make them look proper.
That's an inexpensive upgrade for your home.
TIP: Never chop the crown into tiny pieces for the 1" drywall round. It destroys the classic look. The corners are so important to us we do them first so they are perfect. Filler of any kind will show up in a few years.
At the Beaumont Farm & stables in Petaluma we installed a large 7½ Baseboard and changed the casing to match with Victorian styles.
We don't like to chop our corners into little pieces so we order matching rounds.

ACUTE ANGLE AND MERGED CROWN
Difficult joints for crown molding are acute angles and merged crown since you are dealing with the multiple planes and compund miters.
